Advocacy is our Business!

Memphis, TN – August 15, 2011 – During the 29th annual MED WEEK Awards Banquet on August 11 in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia Power Arkwright Auditorium, Blair Taylor, President of Memphis Tomorrow (an association of chief executive officers of Memphis' largest global, national and regional enterprises whose purpose is to foster economic prosperity), along with Patricia Hanes, Regional Director for US Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), made a momentous presentation to The Mid-South Minority Business Council Continuum (MMBC Continuum) for 2011 Advocate of the Year.  The mid-south agency was recognized for its focused commitment and results-oriented strategies to grow minority businesses.  According to Taylor, “It should be no surprise to any of us familiar with the outstanding work of The MMBC Continuum that they continue to receive prestigious awards and recognition.  Among other successes, as a direct result of their work this past year, 393 of their local MBE clients generated more than $809 million in total revenue, and to date 78 of their MBE clients were successfully awarded contracts of $1million or more with many of Memphis’ major corporations.”  READ MORE...

MEMPHIS, TN – The Mid-South Minority Business Council Continuum (MMBC Continuum) will receive a major investment in resources targeting the growth and development of businesses owned by Minority and Women Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) in six communities in the Delta region, Delta Regional Authority Chairman Chris Masingill announced today.
