THE MID-SOUTH MINORITY BUSINES COUNCIL

MEMPHIS BUSINESS ACADEMY

The Mid-South Minority Business Council (MMBC) Memphis Business Academy (MBA) is a two year training and development program for successful entrepreneurs.  The program is designed to promote the growth of minority-owned and women-owned businesses in the Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The MMBC MBA is designed to take competent successful entrepreneurs, whose accomplishments are driven by their own innate will to succeed, and help them shift from being great entrepreneurs into dynamic Chief Executive Officers (CEOs).  Hence our theme, …“Transitioning Entrepreneurs to CEOs”.

The MMBC MBA program was developed based upon research which indicated that minority and women owned firms in the Memphis area are very small and represent a fraction of total business revenues.  The need to grow minority and women business firms is critical to the economic prosperity of our community.  The program imparts “best practices” in a class room setting and one-on-one environment by providing M/WBE participants with the necessary tools to take their businesses to the next level through training, technical assistance, building partnerships, establishing successful banking relationships, emphasizing total quality management programs, strategic planning, managing through financial metrics, human resources management, information on corporate governess, marketing, workforce development and exposing them to sources of capital.

The MMBC MBA course of study develops management and strategically puts participating firms on a path to become mainstream companies which creates a win-win for them and our communities.
